Caro Direttore,
a 80 Km a Nord di Berlino si trova la città di Vogelsang, avamposto sovietico in quella che fu la DDR. Costruita per nascondere una base militare, si presentava come una città modello per la Società Nuova che il Socialismo voleva edificare: tutto era costruito a misura di un uomo i cui bisogni erano già stati predefiniti dal potere. E se qualcuno non ci si fosse trovato bene, provvedeva la STASI, la famigerata polizia politica della Germania Est, a “convincerlo”. Una macchina del sospetto e della paura, capace di indurre l’individuo a rinunciare alla propria libertà e ridursi al pensiero unico dominante, così da guadagnare uno stato di almeno momentanea tranquillità.
Proprio a Vogelsang nella hall del teatro ho trovato questo wallpaper di 200 x 500 cm: c'è un grossa e semplice scritta, STASI, appunto, tutta fatta dalle icone delle applicazioni internet. Oggi la logica del like e dell'hastag la fa padrone, suggerisce il wallpaper. E in effetti si tratta di una logica che tende a uniformare il pensiero attraverso l’adesione a facili slogan, che finiscono per annullare il tentativo del singolo nel mare indistinto della maggioranza-che-ha-sempre-ragione. Nell’impero del relativismo, tutti hanno ragione perché nessuno cerca la verità, e tutti affermano di essere liberi e di agire secondo coscienza.
Oggi che la Stasi non c’è più e Vogelsang è abbandonata, forse ci siamo dimenticati che libertà e verità sono inscindibili. Ce lo richiama bene l-Enciclica Veritatis Splendor di Giovanni Paolo II Dio volle, infatti, lasciare l'uomo in mano al suo consiglio (cf Sir 15,14), così che esso cerchi spontaneamente il suo Creatore, e giunga liberamente, con la adesione a lui, alla piena e beata perfezione. Se esiste il diritto di essere rispettati nel proprio cammino di ricerca della verità, esiste ancor prima l'obbligo morale grave per ciascuno di cercare la verità e di aderirvi una volta conosciuta. In tal senso il Card. J. H. Newman, eminente assertore dei diritti della coscienza, affermava con decisione: «La coscienza ha dei diritti perché ha dei doveri».

Km North of Berlin there is the city of Vogelsang, Soviet outpost in
the place that once was the DDR. Built to hidie a base
soldier, it appeared as a city model for the “New Society” that
the Socialism wanted to build: everything was built to fit a man
whose needs had already been default from the power. And if
someone did notfeel good there, it was the Stasi, the infamous
political police of East Germany, to "convince him." A
machine of suspect and fear, that was able to induce the individual
to abdicate his own freedom and to be reduced to the dominant one
thought, in order to earn a condition of at least momentary calm.
In
Vogelsang, in the hall of the theater I have found this wallpaper of
200 x 500 cms : there is a big and simple writing, Stasi, all served
as the icons of the apps. Once there were the Sovietic spies – the
wallpaper suggests - but today it's the logic of the like and the
hastag to dominate. A logic that has the tendency to conform the
thought through the adhesion to easy slogans, that end up annulling
the attempt of the single one in the indistinct sea of the
majority-that-has-always-reason. In the empire of the
relativism, everibody is right because nobody looks for the truth,
and everyone affirm to be free and to act according to his
conscience.
Today
that the Stasi there is no more and Vogelsang is abandoned, we forgot
that perhaps freedom and truth are indivisible. It is the call of
encyclical Veritatis Splendor of Jhon Paul II : “...God wanted, in
fact, to leave the man in the hands of his suggestion (cf Sir 1514),
so that he would have spontaneously look for his Creator, and would
have freely come, with the adhesion to him, to the full and blessed
perfection. If the right to be respected in one's own path of
search of the truth exists, then even before there is for everyone
the strong moral obligation of iseeking the truth and, once you know
it, the obbligation ofsticking with it...”In such sense the Card. J.
H. Newman, eminent champion of the rights of the conscience, affirmed
with decision: " conscience has some rights because it has some
duties."
